After we had completed The Great Piss Take 2 I said to Dylan as payment I would shoot another
& far better Kite Surfing Video. The Truth is I probably wanted to do it
more them him! So we set out to Donnymount Strand in North Dublin. Dylan’s
Dad Gavin Callanan was driving us to Sandymount originally but the wind wasn't
in the right direction or strong enough. So we decided to continue on to Donnymount.
To my surprise the wind picked up and the sun shone through the clouds beautifully,
giving us possibly the best filming & kite surfing conditions.
The Shoot went amazingly I was amazed at the stunts Dylan could show off, now
that he had proper kite surfing conditions. I Also I was very happy with the light
as it was making everything I shot look far better! The only 2 problems where
when Dylan bailed after landing an amazing jump. His feet slipped out of their
harness's and he was dragged 50 feet though shallow water then up the beech,
in fact the only thing that stopped him was that his feet had anchored them
selves in the sand after plowing 2 trenches about 10 feet long! I thought he
was seriously injured so I stopped filming & ran over, he was fine &
was actually angry when I told him I hadn't filmed the bail! The only other
problem was when I forgotten my dad's wellies at the beach & realized this
when I had gotten home.
This film was one of the 5 shorts included in the Innovation award - presented to Buckled Cranium Production by The Fresh Film Festival. |
